August 2014)
Zürcher Kantonalbank Prints Lifelong Dreams in 3-D
3D-Model AG advises Zürcher Kantonalbank: The first mortgage you can touch
Zürich, August 7, 2014 – Buying a house entails many tasks: Plans, documents and a variety of offers must be scrutinized and compared. Interestingly, while the favorable terms and conditions of a mortgage play an important role in the client’s decision to buy a house, they contribute surprisingly little to a positive emotional experience. It appears that this part of the process is just not that emotionally involving.
“Knowing this, Zürcher Kantonalbank has recruited us as a consulting and sales center for 3-D printing. In a combined effort, we have integrated 3-D printing into the process of purchasing a home in order to make it more emotionally involving,” says Christiane Fimpel, co-founder and member of the Executive Board of 3D-Model AG. Zürcher Kantonalbank has recently been the first bank ever to present a client with a 3-D print of her future house while handing over the mortgage confirmation. “Fulfilling the lifelong dream of owning a house is a very emotional moment. As our motto is “Close to You”, sharing such a moment is particularly important to us. “Especially when we can positively surprise our clients, like in this instance,” adds initiator Atahan Tosun, Head of Segment Management at Zürcher Kantonalbank’s Private Banking.
Three days later the client, who was obviously surprised and very happy, thanked her client advisor in writing: “I will give pride of place to the model in my library. I find it fascinating and beautiful, and I am actually proud to have it. I rather envy you your creative idea as well as the perfect realization and design.”
For us, the next step is to evaluate our pilot project and to decide on the future use of 3-D printing in this and other areas of the bank. One thing is for sure: If our clients associate the very emotional fulfillment of their lifelong dreams with our bank, Zürcher Kantonalbank will be one step ahead of its competitors. Further applications might include exhibiting 3-D models of a community’s building projects at the bank’s local branch office. This would make the local roots of Zürcher Kantonalbank and its proximity to the client more tangible.
